    Rxp valve questions

I am putting a x charger on my 185 motor.. Was wondering if I need to change the valve, springs or retainers or if all. To be safe. Just a little info I have a 05 Rxp, bought with blown motor, had a full 185 running motor with 42hrs laying around. So I put it in.

this is what I plan on running this summer.
    185 motor
    215 flywheel
    x charger
    48lb Injectors
    water box mod
    straight pipe exhaust
    215 ecu
    4inch intake comming off sc

should I do valves, springs or just clips ??

any input would be great since I'm fairly new to building the 4tec
    thanks in advance.

Your going to be dog shit rich with 48# injectors on a stock 215 ecu!

At stock rpm's.... you don't need to worry about the valves.

Only reason I was wondering about the valves is because I know the motors are famous for dropping the valves

That's not necessarily true. Some 04-05's had issues.... but that's about it. I blame the majority of those failures on improper winterizations, and the ski's sat for months allowing the exhaust valves to corrode.

Many of the 04-05's had problems with the exhaust valves. For peace of mind, you may want to replace them. The supertech valves are much better, and lighter than the stock valves and also cheaper. Have a look here in the forums store

There is no reason to upgrade valve spring/retainers if you choose to run the stock ECU with stock rev limiter, but if you plan to reflash with V-Tech and run higher RPM then the supertech spring/retainer kit is a great choice
