RXP 215 cavitating, (new impeller/wear ring??)

    hey guys,

low speed when i floor it i seem to rev limit (still accelerates) and once the ski is going 30 or so it really grabs and takes off no issues.

looking online it appears it could be cavitating, i have taken a pic of the wear ring and impeller, there is grooves and impeller fins are not smooth, all rough.

should i file the fins and replace wear ring or should i replace both impeller and wear rings? (or any other items to replace same time??)

also do i only need the impeller removal tool along with normal tools, or should i purchase other special tools?

last question, the ski is stock, but should i change the impeller to a different one? will i get any gain out of a diff one? id rather more low down quickness then top end atm i get about 110-115km/hr

your wear ring is definitely a problem, I would just smooth out the impeller with a file and put in a new wear ring, it'll really wake it up.

weak bellows and carbon seal will allow air from the hull to get into the prop, so yeah, the next step is the carbon seal and bellows. I had this on mine last year.

Noddy, I take it your carbon seal and bellow have never been changed? If not I guarantee this is the source of your cavitation and I'm surprised it hasn't let go yet and sunk your ski. You will want to replace the carbon seal and bellow setup ASAP! Visit the below link to the forums online store. You will want to buy items 36, 37, 32, 33, and 31

    Hope that helps!
