T - TX steering upgrade question

    Hey guys

Have just been playing with my steering and upgrading it from the T steering to steering from a PX (gotta get a cable and its done)

Just wondering on how to plug my things in.
I am assuming that when you upgrade to the X steering that you use the X buttons
But the X buttons include VTS which my craft does not have

As a result the plugs for the steering harness are different (From 6/2 pin to 6/6 pin)

Which leads me to the question

How do i plug the X steering into the non X loom?
do i need to rewire my loom and leave out the VTS trim wires?
or do i just need to plug in the plug that deals with the DESS post and the start button?

    TIA

    Az

After digging through the wiring diagrams i found that the wire colors were the same between x and non x

And that all that i needed to do was remove the 2 pin DT connector and give it a sex change to a larger 6 pin connector.

Ski is up and running with the sexy x steering now

Just plug the harness in and it will work. The VTS is not going to work ofcoarse but everything else will be normal. Seadoo The steering harness is only different and all seadoo does is add VTS to the X harness. I have a ski set up this way now. Plug and play. and if you are using your harness, just open up the housing and lay your start stop button in. Simple.

Cant plug it in and run it lol

The x steering used 6 pin and 6 pin
The non x loom uses 6 pin and 2 pin

But the 2 pin was the wrong sex and wrong size to plug in. It also jad 2 pins off of the dess post so couldnt just leave it out

Sex change upgrade took a few mins

Yes, It is. I have it on my RXT.

I removed the X Steering from my other Ski. I remove the steering harness from my RXT and I opened up the handle bar housing and installed. Very simple. You are making it a hard process. That is not.

See the X set up and the NONE x Have a steering harness that is plugged in under front compartment, but all you are going to do is keep your steering harness and put into the start stop housing and the VTS buttons will just be blank. Of coarse relocate your Dess post.

Um. Your rxt seems to be an rxp.

Rxp has vts so it has the same plug system as the x (which also has vts)

If you are going from a non vts to x steering your ski side plugs should be 2 pin and 6 pin. (Its missing 3 wires from the 2 pin for vts so they didnt need the 6 pin DT connector)

Also seeing as my ski will eventually have an X loom i decided on keeping the x steering loom for the eventual VTS upgrade that will occur

And as for making the process harder than it needs be im pretty sure that swapping the connector on my ski loom took me less time than swapping the looms from old steering to new would have.

DT connectors are really easy to work with

No that is the ski it came off of. Look Im not going to argue with you being wrong. Or wright.

You DID not at all have to use the X steering harness. You did it because your upgrading your system, to VTS it latter and guess what I have done that on a RXT also.

I will say it again. Your RXT steering harness would work on the X steering. PERIOD!.

Now if you wanted to plug the X steering harness into your 07RXT LOOM than No, but read my post correctly Please. You did not need to put a X steering harness on your ski your Stock Harness would have easily gone into your X steering..

    Been there done that.

Oh and to make sure you understand. Yes I am reading all your POST and you are useing a X steering Harness and putting it on a NON X 07 RXT. So the VTS wires are not in the 07 harness. Yes I know that....

What I am telling u is you could have just split your X start stop housing removed your X steering haness and Installed your NON X 07 rxt steering harness into the houseing and been done.

Im not sure you are following ME.

And so you know your Stock 07 RXT main wiring harness can be modded to use VTS, but is a pain in the ass. I would swap to a 08-09 RXT-X Main harness. I have done that also. You will need to shorten a VTS rod or change the pump shoe to use a normal X VTS rod.

Let me know if you need help.

Yea i know about the PITA that adding the vts to the non x loom can be

I plan on upgrading the loom to the x loom when i go vts which is another reason i swapped the plug on my main harness - a 5 min plug swap beats swapping my steerling loom twice

But vts just got shoved to the side line due to my latest acquisition

    Heres mine.
Its mid color change (was black with yellow hood. Now black with black hood)
Tossing up blacking out the red seat panels or putting on some red stickers
