    300x 2011 - water in bilge?

    Hi, just bought a 2011 Kawaski 300x with 85hours. Got 2 questions.

When im driving I always seem to have a small amount of water in the enginecompartment, doesn't seem to in/decrease maybe 1-1,5liters . Is this normal? How waterproof is the seat/storage when its closed?

And does anyone know if the european sold ultras have the exhaustfilter in mainfold?

    /VG

If you ride hard, you will find a little bit water in the bottom of the hull.

It probably is normal. I wouldn't sweat it much. Does water come over the front of the bow when you ride?

riding like a yoyo and putting water over the front of the skiall the time will get water in side hull....

actually riding hard on a stock ski the inside of the hull is 100% dry....

no reason for it to get wet !!

    Sounds normal..

Your always left with a 1/2 inch deep but as you ride the water will go towards the back(stern) and the Siphon bilge will scavenge or suck up the any water over around 1/2 inch..

But if you have the Exhaust hose from the waterbox come off or melt a hole in it your gonna have more water coming in than the siphoning bilge can take out and your not gonna know until you start seeing smoke under your seat ,If at least suddenly your engine or oil cooling hose burst and get a overheat alarm you might not be stuck to far from shore and can limp home at 3000rpms..
Best to put a automatic bilge pump that feeds off the battery and has the float switch either built in or put at a low point near engine but slightly raised as to only activate as water goes up 1-1/2 - 2 inches ,you do not want to drain battery as it's there just for an emergency...

Ive been neglecting to do this myself but put this on my "to do" list this Spring, should be for every Ultra owner..

For $35-40 of parts and and a little drilling and wiring it's worth it though you might not ever need it...

Thx for all the answers! So the ski have some pumpything originally to pump out water while driving?
I will try to idle the ski on trailer next time to see if there is a leak.

How hot should the engine get? Even when i get home I almost cant touch the engine?

If you want to make it sure, dry your hull.
Take your ski for a ride when water is calm without getting the nose in the water.
And check if you still have water.

But pretty normal to have some if going offshore.

its an engine it gets hot, if it gets too hot it will tell you!! sounds like you may have a weep from a hose somewhere.
