    Motec on a Kawi 300

    I have been contacted to help tune a new Kawi turbo 300 build.

    What is involved in getting an O2 installed in one of the skis. Will it take building a turbo manifold from scratch.

    Has anyone pulled off a Motec M150 or is the M400 the only Motec option to date. This is a salt water boat.

    it depends on the turbo kit. i think the r&d one has a prevision for an 02 sensor. as for the motec, i think right now its still the M400 ecu for it. not sure if the M1 platform has been fitted to it yet.

    I wonder if it will this be easier to do with a Megasquirt? What does the kawi use for a crank pattern for the crank position sensor? Is there a cam sensor?

    We run them with haltech, one of the moderators on here runs his 15f on a mega which essentially has the same parts minus the dbw throttle

    We have done both M130 and m400 on a kawasaki 300

    All are vr sensors the ultra uses a 24-2 wheel and the 15f uses a 8 tooth wheel. They use unshielded non twisted wires back to the stock ecu. Both skis have a single tooth cam wheel driven off the exhaust. The biggest hurdle for a stock harness plug and play system is because its unshielded. My megasquirt is working fine on the 15f and I love the extra input options. Size wise the halltech, motes, or ms3pro is a better option is because the ms3 needs to be sealed and use waterproof connectors.

    The kawasaki manifold doesnt have a good spot for the o2 sensor that takes a reading from all cylinders without water in it, furthermore it is fully jacketed so you have some tough aluminum work to get it in, sealed, and threaded. You can give me a ring if you want my tune/base settings for the ultra timing wheel.
