Orange Key Q please
First Time Post in the Kawi section. I Have a 97 750 zxi with no spark. i bought it as a donor ski for my 91 Kawasaki SC "couch" mod project but before i pull it apart i want to hear it run first. Ski was complete BUT the EBOX and key. I bought a 95 750 ZXI EBOX from a member. Part "looks" good so...? The Key, Being around skis for 20 years i had a couple in the toolbox . The embossed numbers on the Key module switch itself has the #3003. one of the keys i have worked the switch and worked the starter. However this key is numbered #3001.Does it matter? Does it control the CDI in anyway or just the starter... Any advice would be appreciated

No, it doesn't control anything except power to the system. I've got three 'Skis with different numbered switches, but I've also found that two are interchangeable. If you decided to get the correct number key, you can sometimes find them on Ebay for about $35.

The key and switch are just metal and magnets. When you put the key on the switch it raises up tiny cylinder shaped parts inside the switch which "unlock" the switch to allow you to turn it, nothing more.

Thank you for that

sometimes wiggling a key with a different number will get the switch to unlock..it's a 4 or 5 pin system, not that hard to cheat.
