    ZXI CDI Question

    Bought a 97 750 zxi no ebox
Bought a 95 zxi complete ebox all plugs in, no fire/spark. fuses good. power on the safety switch good. turns over . mag has no corrosion and i am not "test' savvy on OHMs and things like that.
    What to Do?

Closely inspect all connectors. The Kawi connectors are notorious for getting water in them which causes corrosion.

Do you have a service manual?

If you don't have a digital multi-meter, go the Lowe's and pick one up for about $40. We can then give you all the specs you need to get your tests completed and maybe hunt down the culprit. The zxi is an electrical nightmare compared to most other machines.

Why is the ZXI a nightmare?

Being a "sport" type machine they will be more apt to take on water. Combine that with Kawi's terrible connectors, chintzy wiring and the ZXI's horrible power routing, and you get electrical gremlins in 75% of them. The power supply for the ignition routes through the trim module first....which is usually fried from the water intrusion into the bottom hull mounted trim motor. Just a lot of poor engineering on Kawi's part.

You need to unplug the stator connectors and check ohms with factory spec. If you have the CD, it's in there. Then let me know how your numbers compare to specs.
