    OEM ride plate sealant

Anybody know what teh grey sealant the factory used on the ride plate is? It just seems a lot friendlier to deal with than regular silicone. I have intake grates and ride plates to swap on both MSX hulls and I need to get some sealant.

    I've been using 3M 4200.

Way too strong for me. I want to be able to somewhat easily remove the plate without causing damage. I really like the OEM stuff

I just use it around the edges. I've had to pull the plate off and had no issues. It wasn't 'glued' on.

I have pulled up fiberglass when removing 4200. Not something I want to do when removing a ride plate. 4200 or 5200 is unnecessary overkill. You need to seal the plate, not adhere it.

I could've sworn that Polaris used the Locktite 5900 flange sealant, but I see that listed as "black in color". Maybe they changed the color, or maybe they used the Locktite 5999 flange sealant, which is listed as "grey". OR, maybe I am misremembering all together like Brian Williams.

Otherwise, I would just go with the Permatex Ultra Grey.

Wow I've never pulled up fiberglass. I did however mangle the hell out of an OEM installed Virage plate trying to remove it. There was no bringing it back.

Funny you mention that. This is what I was going to buy.
