    differences b/w 05 and 06 cylinder head?

Is there anything needed in order to make a 05 head be compatible with a 06 block?

    Thanks!

Some of the 06 heads came with the better valves from the factory and the top end oiling was different I thought.

Just use the 06+ rocker shaft.

See this thread for more details:

Put the restrictor in the block and use the complete 05 head set up. But change the valves.

Eveybody is overlooking they changed the way the oil flows through the head in the later models. It is not just a new rocker shaft and no restrictor.

The early years the oil went along the head and up through different points of the rocker arm. On the later heads there is one feed and one feed only to the rocker shaft.

Many, many people have 06+ rocker shafts on 04-05 heads with the oil jet removed..... including my 05 RXP. What do you think the problem is by running it this way? Mine has well over 150 hours on this set-up running 9k+ rpm.

Not saying there nessessarily a problem. But it is not how Rotax designed it. One thing I think might happen is that the later model rocker shaft blocks all the earlier model heads oil galleries and just uses the one entry up by the timing chain. Therefore works like the later model heads. The extra galleries (in the earlier head) now unused probably just fill with oil and cause no problem.

    Just a theory.
