So I'm not sure if I properly winterized my VXR...

As we hit single digit temps for the second straight week in a row it occurred to me... "Did I properly winterize my ski this year?". It resides in an uninsulated detached garage that gets to whatever temp it is outside.

My last ride was on November 11th. A few days later I winterized it. I added fuel stabilizer then I started the engine and rev'd it a few times. Then I pumped r/v antifreeze through the flush connection while idling with a few throttle blips (forgot to clamp off hose and none came out port pisser (fuck). With only a little antifreeze left I pumped it directly into the port pisser for 10-15 seconds til I ran out . I then fogged each cylinder and turned the engine over a few times. Sprayed everything with Fluid Film ect, ect.

Today I go out to look at it and notice the handle bars wont turn freely so obviously shits freezing.

    Am I fucked?

You are fine. I believe the Yamaha cooling systems are self draining. The bard wont turn because whatever moisture thats inside the steering cable is frozen.

You're good, my friend. I live in Fairbanks, AK. My VXR has been buried in a snowbank, out back for five months now. You're more thorough than I am with the winterizing and I've always come out ok, come spring time. Did you happen to take your battery out?

Yeah AGM battery is out and in my house. I don't trickle it but I charge it right before it goes in. This will be the batteries 3rd season.

charge it up tomorrow to green, and it will last. we trickle charge ours for a day or so per winter month and they last a long time. $50 buck batteries at walmart. so far all 3 will have this year as their 3rd season. not bad for ~$15 bucks a year.
