Low compression new rings ans pistons

New rings and pistons on an stx 12f. Did a compression test on a cold engine without throttle open and getting 175-180 psi. Manual states that usable range is 185 to 265. Why would the compression be so low?

Rings arent even seated yet, unless you gapped them wrong or something else went wrong during the installation give it some more time to seat the rings

I like to do a hard brake in, it seems to seat well. Like Mike said, these rings need to be run hard and for a while before they seat fully. Its a combination of the plating and the ring material.
