colour of bearings = what thickness?

    hi guys,

i need to know what sizes the replacement bearings are for the corresponding colour on the crank.

my crank needs to be machined and each journal has some small marks, but i need to tell the machine shop what sizes are available so they can work out how much to take off to suit the bearings.

    thanks
    adam

    hey adam
the difference between the sizes won't help if u need to grind the crank, the difference between the bearing sizes is too small if u take off more than a thou or so, u will have to find a bearing out of something that can work else or get another crank

Ok, the marks were very small compared to the mark on the bore that was 2 thou so I'd say it's still usable.

I tried to search for the sizes but can't find anything

there is nothing out there. if you cannot polish them out you may have to get a replacement crank. I searched every where when mine scored and had no luck ended up getting a case and crank from a forum member there are a few about.

Adam I've had a machinist mic them and he struggled to tell the difference, linish the crank and them assemble with plastiguage with a bearing and check your clearance, it may be alright

Yeah I think the plan is to polish until they come out and see where that ends up rather than just buying a new crank without checking first
