373 or 410 what's the best gear to run
I have a 96 chevy 1500 5.7 with a 5 speed .... It has a 345 in it im thinking about going to a 373 or 410.. Just asking around I would like to get it right the first time and that would be a first...

A 4.10 will give you quicker acceleration and more pulling power at the cost of fuel efficiency.

I would go find a Chevy truck forum as you might find someone with first hand experience. And I doubt you will even notice the change to 3.73's...

whatever fuel economy you get is gonna go out the window when you go with a numerically higher gear ratio. is this for performance or towing or both?

How big are the tires, and what is your primary use for it? If the tires are close to OEM size (35" or smaller), go with 3.73. If you are running tires taller than 35" 4.10 would be better. Actually, if the truck is just an everyday driver with stock size tires, something more around 3.55 would be a good all around gear.
