Drive Shaft collar corroded, trying to get the clip off

Hi, I'm trying to remove the driveshaft on my 07 Seadoo wake. I don't have the special seadoo tools but have heard they aren't needed. I'm trying to slide the collar to the back towards the back of the ski to reveal the driveshaft clip that you are supposed to remove but it's seized in there. My ski has been ridden in the salt so that probably doesn't help. Any tips or tricks to get this off? I just soaked it in penetrating fluid. Thanks.

Most every salt water ski I work on, I end up having to cut it off with a pneumatic cut off wheel.... and I do have the drive line tool. If you don't keep it sprayed down with something every now, and then.... you'll never get it to budge on a salt water ski, even with the tool. The hat is generally being replaced anyway as the drive shaft is coming out, so I don't waste my time on trying to get it to move. Cut and remove the accordion boot, slide the carbon ring back, then make a cut in the hat..... just don't lay into the drive shaft. Drive a chisel into the cut, and it'll slide right out of the way!

Can this collar be moved forward or just backwards? Another idea before cutting is that if I could lock some vice grips to it and see if it spins and breaks free. Can it spin on the shaft or does it have locking key or splines?

If the C-clip is in... it will only move backwards. It can spin... but you'll destroy it with vice grips (if your trying to save it).

Okay, so the shaft collar spins freely so it's not seized. It just won't slide backwards... Is there a special trick?

The collar itself won't slide back, it brings the entire front half of the driveshaft with it (rubber boot/bearing assy etc)
