    valve train upgrade

well while my sho motor is out on the bench. I am thinking of upgrading my springs and retainers to run 8600-8900 rpm. the motor will have an et18. will this be enough to be in the "Safe" zone on? this is a rec ski only and is in a gprsho. no really looking to tear into the motor with rods and pistons. what do you guys think? there is not much info on the sho valve train upgrade. how many people use it? what rpms are people running without springs?

DO the upgrade at those revs you will end up dropping a valve if not I would also fit the uprated gasket and stud kit.

You wont be in the "safe zone" with an ET18 on stock rods and pistons at 8900 rpm´s for a long time IMO. Do the pistons and rods for peace of mind if you want to go with that setup.

if the money is available I'd do super singles and retainers by R&D or I'd keep rpms not grater than 8500....I run that setup on stock internals just put a tall prop on her to load it up a bit
