gps app. how to plan a trip ?
hey guys. a friend of mine and i plan on making a trip from the rappahanock out to maybe va beach or further. how do i go about planning. is there an app or a map that will show marinas/restaurants/bars/hotels on the water ? i need to plan on fuel fill ups and lunch and stuff. thanks

There is no app to covers what you're looking for. But activecaptain is close since it's recommendations by locals, and local boating/fishing forums will help. I've used those as well as Google Maps to plan my long trips.

I use Navionics. It's worth the investment if your devices screen is visible in the sun.

Plus one on Navionics. Have used it a number of times and is accurate. You do have to pay for it though.

I use Garmin HomePort, free download with my Garmin. It's really the only thing I've ever used, so I can't even tell you if it's any good or not. What I can tell you is that I would not get the 640 again. I thought it was the right one for me, but it really isn't any easier to read than the 78sc and has much less memory. I guess the only benefit is that you can add a transducer to activate the depth finder on the unit.
