    RXP pump vanes

I have a 2004 RXP. I am in the process of changing out the prop. I am probably going to go with a Riva Stage 1 kit. Now that the pump is removed, I can see the intake grate from the top. There are 8 small fins in the housing that the pump attaches to. They are pretty beat up. Do I need to replace that piece?

According to the local SeaDoo dealer I have to replace the entire assembly, not just the plastic fins. Quite honestly, the ski ran great this past summer with broken fins, beat up impeller & a gouged wear ring. My hope is fixing 2 out of the 3 will be adequate. Any help would be appretiated.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum

The vanes in the pump shoe commonly get chewed up. Its a huge job to replace the pump shoe (pump support)
Many people just cut the vanes off and then smooth everything out after. There is no ill effect from removing them.

my friend 2004 gtx also ate some rocks last year and i can see his pump vains
a tiny bit chewed 3 of them are maybe a 1/4 of a inch eaten it realy dosent look bad at all,we will be changing his prop(freebie from lafjax) and wear ring.
should we do also the pump thing?
i remember last year after he ate the rocks the take off was terrible you would hear the engine run hard and the ski will not move as fast as it use to.

So if there are no ill effects from removing them....and I'm assuming there are no gains either (since they haven't been mentioned - as far as I know), then why go through the trouble in removing them at all?

Because once you bust them up you loose performance...Ski will cavitate badly and no hole shot anymore...Thats why you want to remove them..If there not busted then id leave them alone...If there broke,,,,grind them out,,,ALL of them

another thing SD needs to junk as far as technical aspects of these skis..if there weren't 'shark teeth' to begin with no one would have to cut them out after they broke.
