    4-tec oil

Hi guys, is it ok to use another oil in your 4 tec or is it best to use the genuine Seadoo oil?

Just im about to finish getting this ski back together and need to purchase some oil and a new filter.

The reason I ask is in the uk a filter is £12.00 and oil is £60.00 buy this oil and filter on eBay is a total price of £37.00. I'll buy genuine if it's best but if there is no difference then of corse I'll opt to save some money.

    Thanks guys.

Look for the JASO MA and MB spec.

I would suggest watching this. XPS oil is simply the best choice matched for your motor, hands down. This isn't to say there aren't other good oils out there, but it just depends on what you want.

You just watched a BRP & XPS commercial and that is your conclusion?

I have two things to say:
    1) Win for advertising department
    2) Hogwash

As long as it has the JASO MA rating and proper viscosity, you are good. I use Valvolene VV740 and spend $27-US for oil & filter (every 30hrs).

FWIW: I have nothing against BRP/XPS oil.

That's fine - you're entitled to your opinion but there is science behind XPS oils being tested with ROTAX motors. The statement I made isn't based off of speculation. It is research - plain and simple.

I'd also be the last one to say that using the oil and maintenance interval you suggested you use is going to cause problems for somebody in the long run - in fact I would guess that you're going to be just fine as you stated. But I was specific - I said that if you wanted the BEST oil, precisely matched for that engine - you simply aren't going to beat the XPS oil.

Any brand which states for wet clutch and has JASO MA (JASO MA – This was the standard for single unit engines where the wet clutch, gearbox and engine used the same oil. JASO-MA oils don’t contain friction modifiers). Is perfectly fine for the (Supercharged rotax engines).

Yeah, so did the commercial. "I think I'll stick with the inferior Amsoil"
