Max RPM on stock 2014 310R

    Hi All,

New owner of 2014 310R. After breaking in according to owner's manual, could not get stock ski to get beyond 7200 RPM. Is this normal? Users here quote all kinds of RPM with this ski. Dealership says this is within the normal range?? If I install a "speed limitor cut", will that increase my max RPM? I like the idea of not having to remove my stock ECU for flashing as I have a 5 year warranty.

The holeshot on this thing is awesome, no comparison to my old 250X. Handles way better as well.

    Thank You.

Looks like you got a ski with the ecu problem. I also just bought a new 2014 SE but have not put it in the water yet. I hope mine does not have a issue. Looks like most I see with the problem is the 2014 R model. Dealers are replacing the ECU's with the 2015 style ecu. The good ones go 7800-7900 and the bad 7100-7200

first off are you obtaining the max rpm from the dash saved recall? if so it will never be correct, you need to look at the digital rpms whilst at wot and note what they are..

Put a gps on it to see if it goes 67mph. If it does you are good. If it only goes 61 you got a bad ecu.

It should make 7800-8000 until the speed limiter kicks in. Then you will be pulled back to around 7260.

Read all the threads about trouble ecu's on the 310. It says they skould stay at 7800. When they pull back to 7200 they are only about 61mph. Updated 2015 ecu fixes this. I have been reading numerous threads on the subject.

how about instead of assuming wait and see how he recorded his max rpms as that could be his problem as most new guys to this ski commonly make that mistake

I was referring to what my 300 does(or says it does on the dash log). If it stayed at peak rpm there would be no way to keep it stuck at 67. I guess the 310's may be different, though.

The peak rpm is stored when the paddle wheel peaks in doing this they are not accurate. If you dont believe me a simple test will prove it. Reset your dash to 000's start the ski at idle on the trailer note the stored rpms, now flick the paddle wheel and note the difference
