    STX 1100 Intake Grate Mod.

Ive been searching the forum and cant seem to find a thread on how to cut away the middle piece on the intake grate for an stx 1100. Can anyone point me in the wright direction?
I have removed the jet pump unit and rear shoe and done the wet pump mod already. Im cleaning up the alloys and refitting them as we speak, but I would like to see about how much to cut away on the intake grate.

Thanks Jonny. Just the center bar. I will post up some pics once ive done the job. The pump is in very good condition and it looks like it had a new impeller and wear ring fitted.

Ive had some major drama with the intake grate. The metal shims had rusted into the alloys so bad, I could not separate them. After spending 2 weeks in the oil tub and using heat heat method to loosen things up, it would not budge. I had to drill cut and grind the grate from the shoe. It was more cost effective for me to purchase a Works racing intake grate for $180Au. What a huge improvement already. Click image for larger version.

IMO just go and purchase a performance intake grate and your done.

Hey Jonny, I did the mod on the intake grate for the STXR and ground it off clean end to end but as I look at it I wonder if if I should have not taken it all the way off but left the section that slides into the pump bracket. Once the center grate is cut out completely what do you fill the center slot in the pump bracket with?
