you sure it's the gauge? More commonly the float on that ski is carbon and over time they would sink. The fuse on the baffle also know to blow.

Float could be bad but I know the sensor works. When I slide it up and down resistance changes. I'll check resistance on the sensor and see if it changes when I reduce or add fuel.

if you were able to slide it up/dn that tells me you have the baffle out...still? I'd pull the screen on the bottom of tube and toss that carbon float in a test can...bet it sinks. Seen it countless times. No need to test resistance since you saw a change when you tilted it. It's the float. Get one of these and it's a newer plastic design.

Unfortunately no. It's all back in the ski. Not a fun job to get to either. Not Sure what the float was made out of. Didn't look carbon, but may it was. Got any idea what the cost of the new designed float? Or what is the range of the resistance of the sensor?

new float from that link is $10.45 + shipping. Just about positive a 97 has a carbon float. IDK the resistance spec off hand. I usually just look it up in the service manual.
