    XL Limited Impeller Install

Trying to upgrade and stop cavitation.Bought a new Solas 12/18.Obvious previous owner installed new pump with replaceable liner.Impeller does not fit.Looks like liner is around 1mm too big.Anybody else ever run into this problem and how was it fixed?

The easiest way will be to replace the liner as well

Yes that's right. The old impeller came right off.Got 66v stamped on it.Replacement impeller is Solas YF-CD 12/18(new Box).Came from Lion Parts in Champlain,NY
Liner looks OK.No knicks. Its like the blades are .5mm too long.It was made in China.Too damn pretty for me to start grinding on.

Contacted Lion Parts to see if a bad lot had been received.None todate.Has anybody run into a replacement liner being too small.Machinist told me he could take off 1mm off the impeller. He measured it and said it was over 6inches or 155mm.I'd like some educated opinions before I order a new liner or grind the prop.

I dont use those plastic liners... they are either too big or too small

I would NOT cut down the impeller, but work with the wear ring. It is the replaceable part

I have heard that if you put it all together and spray well with WD-40, then start it up it will cut the liner to correct size.... either that or get the correct wear ring

I ride in salt water all the time, so I lean to the liner, but that's moot.My question would be, can the wrong liner be installed.I see that there are 2 separate liners listed for 155mm pumps.Different year ski's.I'm gonna order a new CORRECT liner and see how it compares and will let everyone know. Thanks for the help WFO.BTW how would I get clearance on the prop and liner.Isn't there supposed to be .015.

The machinist said I could find someone with a table lathe(at$300/hr) to trim the liner.New parts are cheaper!LOL Oh the misery of buying a previously owned ski!
