Oh yes, power spray or a garden hose in all 3 openings until water is coming out clear after that put IC down with openings facing down and let the last of water and any oil drip out ,gonna have to turn over and do the same for the other opening side..now your virgin clean

You can put 1-2 cups of gasoline before spraying water ,shake and mix ,it will breakdown the oil then spray ..

I would not use gasoline, lol. I would use Simple Green, LA's Awesome Cleaner ($1 at Walmart) or some other water soluble grime and grease remover. Gas is petroleum based and does not rinse with water. Not to mention the odor.

Well you clean your IC the way you like, many and myself included use a little gas to breakdown the oil and then wash it out completely with water and let it dry ,mine come out squeaky clean you can eat off those fins

"Water is petroleum based and does not mix well with water"... I guess you meant the oil or the gas

But What I just don't understand is " not to mention the odor"

    Huh?..
You work on hi performance skis cars etc and don't like the smell of a little gasoline ??

Shoot after that statement the next time I clean my IC Im gonna use my favorite Sunoco GT 260...

Ahhhhhh don't you just luv it the smell of race fuel in the morning!!

I would definitely clean it - for "peak performance".

Heck it's only an ~45 minute job including the R&R.

If you do not wish to use gas - you can always use Mineral Spirits - which is also not water soluble - yet with the water based detergent cleaner that you should flush the intercooler with - after loosening up the "schmegma" with solvent - most will certainly be diluted.

I found more fogging oil in my intercooler than any built-up "schmegma".

    Good Luck !!!
