    2006 15f cylinder and 2012 15f cylinder differences

Does anyone know the differences of a 2006 part#11005-3761 cylinder assembly & 2012 part#11005-3768 cylinder assembly? The base and head gaskets appear to be the same along with the pistons.i know the cam and head has a different part #s. Possibly the hose location?

Solid question. I have a line on cylinder and heads from a 2012, but want to make sure I can drop it in my 2004 without issues. Different part numbers could be something real simple.

I believe the cams and timing chain amongst other things are different..in my case I don't want to fool with a bunch of mods.

Any idea if I buy a head and cylinder together from the 2012 if they will marry to the 2004 without issue?

The cams interchange but the gears and chains do not. To the best of my knowledge the cylinders swap as the bore and gaskets are the same, I do not know for certain if the deck height is the same but you could make a guess based on of the connecting rods and pistons are the same.

Id guess its a cooling change that is the difference so you should be able to swap them.

Thank you Smokey, master of the STX.
If I'm understanding correctly, I could get a fully assembled head (cams, gears, chains, valve cover and either swap directly, or change the cams out and use the original gears and chains and fit? Too good of a deal to pass on this head. I think I can salvage my cylinder after all, but bent a rod. It looks real funny with a valve lodged in the top of the piston upside-down. Kind of like modern art.

Correct, cams, gears, chain, and crank all have to match.
