Polaris Stator PN 4060128
Hello I'm new here. I'm not sure if my question has been covered before, or if this is the right place to ask it. I have searched the site for an answer without success. I'm trying to fix my Polaris 1996 SL900. The stator seems to be the problem. I have checked ohms readings And there seems to be an open circuit between the black and the purple wire. The service manual says there should be 1200 ohms between them. I purchased a used replacement PN 4060128 supposedly in excellent working condition, pulled from a 1997 SL 1050. I measured the ohms across the black and the purple wires and only get 144 ohms. I also get 144 ohms across the black and the gray wires. Are these readings acceptable or do I have another defective stator? Thanks in advance for any help given.

Polaris part number 4060128 would be an original Gen I non-updated stator for the red domestic three cylinder engine.
Have a look at my thread discussion testing of the different Polaris red engine stators. Also make note of the ignition update kits for 1996-1999 900 and 1050 engines.
Be sure not to confuse the purple and gray stator wires, the colors can sometimes fade over time.
