    2004 STX-15F questions

I'm planning looking at an STX-15F in the next couple of days. What kinds of things should I look for in it? Are they generally reliable machines? How do they handle 2-up riding in 2-3ft waves and how do they handle pulling tubers?

Yes the 15F is a very reliable ski. I would check the compression and just overall condition of the ski you can tell a ski that the owner has taken care of it I always prefer garage kept if possible.

If near the ocean check for signs of extensive rust. Make sure screen pod works..some have issues with that going bad.

I haven't used in 2-3ft waves 2 up but I would imagine it would be ok not as good as the new bigger skis though. It pulls tubers great no issues with that.

The 15F has been a great ski I purchased a 08 last year and have not had one issue.

We've had our 2004 15F since new - now have ~450 hours on it, and it's been great. While it *will* handle 2 up, it would not be my first choice in 2-3' chop. The hull is narrower, and it likes to hop.

If you'll be doing a lot of ocean riding with 2 up, I'd be looking at an Ultra or a Yamaha FXHO (still naturally aspirated, and IMO less to fail).

I would agree if your going to mostly be riding 2 up in big chop over 50% of the time the 15F isn't the best ski for you I would think any of the bigger 3 seaters would be a good option especially a Ultra.

The 15F is a great ski but your going to get beat in 2-3s with 2up. Obviously alone it will be better. If your consistently riding in 2-3s I'd look at the Ultra hull.
