what helmet and type for PWC?

    hi guys,

what type/brand helmets do you use for PWC riding?

my brother suffered a serious head injury a few weeks ago when he fell off his dirtbike and is still in hospital.

as we are currently building his ski to go mid 80's and the fact his brain had severe swelling and will now be more susceptible to injuries we are now in need of helmets. More so for high speed runs, not closed course racing.

i prefer the look of a MX style but worried about 'bucketing' effect.

I'd say a motocross helmet. I'd be more worried about back and neck injuries. The worst thing that my head has came in contact with while on the water was dragonfly.

A standard MX helmet works fine, but if your worried about "bucketing", remove the visor so IF you fall off it doesnt catch the water and dig in...

You can add a hans style device if you want..Leatt (I think that is how it is spelled) makes some good stuff...I think they are required for the hydrodrag guys...

hey guys thanks for the replys, i did see the gath one but looked a bit

probably end up with a MX one, i have a FOX V2 that i snapped the visor off so might just use that.

my bro is home now waiting for a spot in rehab for balance/eye sight stuff, still has double vision and eye isnt straight so will be a while before he is back on the ski anyway.

I have a fox v3 but I only use it when jumping waves and will use it once I get a go pro. If you are worried about the bucketing effect you can always make relief cuts where it screws in so it will snap off.

Hello, sorry about your brother. Helmets are a great thing when you spend any time WOT. Speed runs and rough play for sure. I do race CC, and I know not your plans, however, I where a neck collar/brace. It will not let the neck over flex. No matter which helmet you choose. Good luck ...
