TurboFab's 15 FZR build and questions thread, everyones experience welcomed

So I picked up a new FZR from the deals last week, but it didn't come without some upset. I actually bought a brand new 14FZS two weeks ago but upon my first ride the engine developed a rod knock (1.4 hours). Barney's in st. pete ended up getting me a 15 FZR to replace my FZS, They are by far the best dealer I have ever worked with. So moving on, My ultimate goal with this new ski is to have a 88mph stock charger ski but i will be happy with 85 lol. I fabricate and weld a lot so pretty much everything will be built by me. Here some pics of the FZS and then the FZR

    FZR getting prepped

Started building a 4in aluminum intake for the ski, I had some tight radius 4in bends from another job that worked perfectly and cleared the gas tank.

Here the piping is done and welded up in raw form.

Here are the completed pics, I powder coated it red to match the ski. I made a screen around the inlet of the intake to keep debris and shit out of it, I didn't want to run a traditional filter because it does not have enough surface area in my opinion, I don't want any restrictions before the charger. I removed the foam and trimmed the tubes down a little.

-Thats pretty much it for now on to the questions.

    Which retainers does everyone like?
Anyone done there own return style fuel system?
Any preference in dual cooling mod?

    -Mods I'm pretty set on

    Deans reflash
    Solas impeller
Building my own A2W intercooler with a PTE 750 core.

    Thanks for the help

The dealer took care of you that's for sure

now if you are going to use Deans reflash either check with him or Pat before you do a bunch of home made stuff to your boat they like the water routing a certain way as they have got all those details worked out and if you do your own thing theres a good chance it will be redone before you get the reflash don't ask how I know

I agree that Barney's is great. Picked up my 15 FZS from them last year. Was the first 15 FZS they had received and was able to get me a great price and also the Trailer I wanted. I wish they were closer so I could use them as my every day dealer but the hour drive each way would suck.

Look forward to details on how the CAI holds up.

Did you fasten the CIA to anything but the Super charger housing?

Yea I've already ran it by him, thank you for the heads up on what could of happened man. I guess I should be a little more clear by saying this isn't my first time modding a FZR, Ive built turbo kits and a tubular water cooled headers, etc. I just like hearing about new and up to date stuff.

    Here a kit I built

This was before I jacketed the pipes

    Back on topic lol

Great dealership, I'm lucky they are only 30 min away.
