New to PWC world. Polaris pro 1200?

First thing I did after college was buy a 1999 Yamaha xl760. Ran just fine but by the end of the summer I was bored of it. I don't need a 3 person pwc. I want something faster, lighter, and just more fun. Budget is around 2-3k. I have found a 2001 Polaris pro 1200 at a power sports store near me. The store has had it a year and I just don't know if this is a good buy. Will this be more fun? What do I look for when I go look at it out of the water? Should I wait till its in the water? Is 2k a good price for the thing? I have almost zero knowledge in fixing pwc's so I want to try and get something that's ready to go and fun with little maintenance. Along with this I figured I would say that this Polaris is at the c an c powersports out of brighton MI. Just want to make sure there are no shenanigans going on there. Thanks for your time.

It's not a good buy. Run far, far away from Polaris.

If your budget is 3k you can easily find a Yamaha GP1200r. Sky is the limit with those things.

Nothing wrong with the Polaris if you are ok with a 2 stroke and are willing to work on it yourself. Most all the parts you will need are available just requires some looking. There are some great folks on here that are Polaris fanatics they will I am sure jump in here.

I used to have a pro fun ski for relatively flat water . Big waves and chop will beat you up. Jumps real good though.

    Haters will hate.

dont be scared by a Polaris. That particular ski will run against anything. Its a great handling hull and quick as hell even on a single pipe.

You could get a GPR but its more money up front and a lot more money to fix if something breaks

if you buy a Polaris, be ready to go to school. While I like Polaris, I would not suggest it for a first timer.

I'd suggest a nice seadoo or Yamaha in the same price range. Check book values at nada or kbb to make an informed offer. Read everything you can manage to here to know what NOT to buy.
