What not to do with your RXP

I know this has been covered 1000 times before, but there be a newbie or two stopping in and this information will prove beneficial.

    1) Do NOT use synthetic oil in your engine. It will cause the supercharger clutch to slip excessivly and burn out

    2) Do NOT use lower than a 91 Octane rating whenever possible. Your ski will not operate at it's peak performance.

if anyone else would like to add to this list i'd appreciate it!

    Change your oil often.

The 4tec was intended to run synthetic, the non supercharged still do. 100 hours is the interval on oil/filter changes. But that was back when they thought synthetic oil would be in all 4tecs. They changed the spec but not the interval.

    Think about this:

3000 miles is the average interval for your car. Let's say you do mostly high way driving and average 60mph. That's 50 hours.

    Let's say you average 35 MPH, that's 85 hours.

Your car is probably only turning 3000rpm, maybe more maybe less, but no where near 8100 rpm the rxp turns.

    100 hours, at 4000 to 8100 rpm, 45-70mph. At 70mph for 100 hours, that's 7000 miles.

We are either changing the oil in our cars too often, or not often enough on our rxp. I'd much rather suck out oil every 40 hours on my rxp than risk internal engine damage.

    It's your decision.

I'm still confused on the oil...the dealer pointed out the oil to use and it said synthetic for 4 strokes. Is this the wrong oil to use? He also called back to the service dept. and they said is was the right oil too.

I think they run synthetic in it during the first 10 hours. Don't use it after 10 hours!

If you do use it you run the risk of your clutch on the supercharger slipping. Basically your supercharger will stop working.

    Your dealer may be misinformed.

AmsOil has a 0-40 oil made just for toy's Like durt bikes, atv's, and yes in your SC 4-tec. I run it in all my toys. The oil has NO friction modifiers so it will not cause ANY clutch wear. Go to there web site and cheak it out.
