    2000 yamaha gp1200r oil pump removal and use pre mix fuel

    Hello everyone, new to the forum and didn't know if anyone has posted any information about this. I want to remove the oil pump and use pre mix. I heard the 1200 has problems with the oil injection system. Definitely want to make sure it is right. I appreciate any information or directions on this. Thanks, Lonny

    I don't think the problem is with oil injection pump.Its with the lines coming off.New lines and clamps are the stated solution here.If you remove the oil pump,you need to plug the carb nipples.

    Ditto what dock said. The problem is not the pump, rather the #3 cylinder oil line coming loose from the carb. Of the 66V's that I have had, I've never had any issues with cylinders 1 and 2. Actually, the oil injection itself system is rather reliable.

    Agreed. The Mikuni oil pumps are damn near bulletproof. If you use good lines and good clamps it should be completely reliable. Not to mention the variable rate oil pumps use a lot less oil than running premix.
