97 wave venture 760 no spark on either cylinder

    Hello all!
I bought a 97 venture 760 with a blown motor last week. Installed remanned crank from SBT along with a 760 cylinder exchange. Assembled motor and installed, rebuilt carbs (they were very clean), and I have no spark on either cylinder. I have checked the ignition coil, pulser coil, charge coil, lighting coil, and CDI unit. Installed CDI and ignition coil in my running venture 760, and both work fine. Swapped known good CDI and ignition coil into the ski with no spark, still no spark. ALL coils test good (proper resistance). Swapped known good stop switch, still no spark.
Before I closed the front of the motor up, I cleaned up the cover and coils with brake cleaner, and rinsed with CRC contact cleaner. There was no corrosion in the cover or the E-box. All the grounds in the E-box were clean and tight.
Am I missing something? Is there a ground in the front cover or somewhere else I missed? What do I need to do to diagnose this further? I got disgusted with it today and threw it down and went and rode my other ski! Any advice is appreciated and welcomed!
    Jack

question , did you ohm the pickup coil?

They call it either the pulse or charge coil. Yep....checked them both. That's what is stumping me. It acts like a bad ground. Is there a ground besides the grounds in the ebox or the main ground?

take some time and double check all the connections .dont forget to check the fuse , also did you ohm the coil properly .

to add to the list of things I have done/not done...when I assembled the engine there was only one dowel pin in the cover. Can that tiny misalignment coming from a missing dowel pin cause the pulser coil or charge coil to not fire correctly? Also, I have ohmed out the coils correctly, so its a ground, gap issue with the dowel pin, or an output voltage problem. Next question, how do you do a proper output test for the charge coil and pulser coils? Do you check output through the wires tested for resistance, or do you use one or the other and ground the other wire? I am sure someone can point me in the right direction.....also when I replace that dowel pin I have to replace that dielectric grease that I rinsed out!

i don't think the a missing dowel pin will have any to do with no spark , unless its real misaligned and the flywheel damage the coil.
have you check your spark plug wires?

I feel I have it narrowed down to the pulser coil. I swapped the cdi and ign coil into my running ski, and they work good. I didn't have a Simpson meter, but I did check the charge coil and pulse coil with a dmm. Had appx 54 v on charge coil and about 1.45v on pulse coil. Have it eliminated to those two, so I bought a pulse coil. Keeping my fingers crossed.
