    92 Waverunner 650 Rebuild question

Hi everyone, I think m going to need to rebuild my 650 engine in the near future. The one cylinder has 90 psi compression. I know when I was looking into it there seems to be 2 kits available, standard and 1mm. How do I know which on i need? Thanks!

Are the cylinders damaged? Any deep scratches?

Not sure yet, didn't open it up yet. I don't think so because I hear no abnormal noises (however its always possible).

With the age of the engine, you're probably going to want to bore the cylinder. That way your piston to cylinder wall clearance is correct for your rebuild. Pull the head off & take a look at the top of the pistons. If its stock bore, you won't have any markings on the top of the piston. If they're oversized pistons, they'll be stamped on the top "50" for .5mm over, or "100" for 1.0 mm over stock and so on..... However, the best thing to do is always measure the bore to confirm what size it is. BTW, I would stay with Pro-X pistons for the rebuild - very good quality aftermarket pistons. Use OE gasket as well. You pay a bit more for them, but way better reliability than any aftermarket gasket kits.

Providing their are not any scratches do I just go with the stock size again or go to the next biggest. As far as boring the cylinder I don't think i can do it myself because I think u need a special tool right? If that's the case I really dont want to spend the money to have that done. The ski is just to old and not worth enough to put so much money into it. Thanks for all the help!

The old 650's are tough. Take it apart and give us some pics. A lot of times a good hone, new rings, seals, and gaskets are all it needs.
