Aight guys I'm tryin to get my timing set on my rxp215 motor. I bought the crank locking tool and cam locking tool. Either way I put the cam gear on the numbers are not even across the head. This thing is makin me loose my mind.

I'm assuming you're saying your compression numbers are not the same across the head, what are they? If you have the crank and cam locking tools in to place the 1503 lines should be basically even with the head with a slight tilt towards the exhaust side. Then bolt everything up.

No I was talking about the 1503 numbers. I got it locked but like I said I put the tensioner in its tilted one way or the other. By the book it don't say nothing but get the number even across. I got a lot into this motor and don't want it wrong and destroy my shit.

just curious is the crank and cam and all the gears out of the same engine and year? just thinking if the different years make any difference. i know there was a change in the crank timing pin for the sensor in 2007 i think.. that second picture looks better. is that with the chain tentioner in?

just looking i didnt know that that the cam gear was adjustable.. but just thinking.. im a diesel mechanic and really and engine is an engine but if you have the crank pined and cam pinned and install tentioner and tighten up the cam gear it all should be timed.. isnt that what the pins a for? i would keep pins in, install tentioner, lock up the cam (Just a good nip up), spin engine over by hand in direction of rotation, then push crank pin back in till it falls in and see where the cam gear marks are?. thats my only idea. im a car dude that works with degree wheels and time cams with cam cards and dial indicators. anyone have any ideas ?

when correct they tilt toward exhaust and more then likely the tensioner is not in hence it will remove the slack and back the gear up some aligning those marks across the top closer after..........they do not align perfect across the top when the motor is at its best timing tensioner out from my experience and I would lock it there.........every motor I had ran great where the second pic is u have and with the cam bolts in u should c the slightest cam gear slot opening behind the cam bolt head bottom left............if so u have it where I would tighten it.............PERIOD!!!!!!!!!
