Replacement 1200 CDI for 2001 SLX

So im looking at an slx, and the seller is telling me it needs a cdi. He says its a brand new motor in it. Claims he thinks its the cdi because last time it was out it was running really rough. He says it still cranks, so I can run compression numbers.

Do you guys think it would be the cdi?

Its either not getting spark or fuel. I can test for spark when im there too. Id love it if it was just a fuel issue.

If it is the cdi, how much would that run me.

    Thanks for the help guys.

SBT sells new CDI for $400

What model year is this SLX?

What does 'new motor' mean? SBT rebuilt?

SBT does not have their model/year lookup quite right for Polaris electrical.

    From the linked web page

Replacement CDI for all 900, 1050 and 1200 models.
This is a non HST timed ignition CDI box.

Some 2002? onwards flywheels have High Start Timing. Ten degrees more base timing than the 'regular' red engine flywheels.

From the factory the High Start flywheels were matched with CDI that had ten degrees less base timing, so the actual timing of the engine was the same.

It is possible to mix these, but the flywheel timing ring must be adjusted right to the end of the slots to compensate. And sometimes even filed slightly longer to allow the timing from the flywheel to match up with the timing the CDI expects.

If this is the ski in greenbay I talked to him. He told me that he got the ski in the condition that it is in. He didn't seem to know much about it.
