96 sl 780 taking on water

So I finally figured out where I'm taking on water from (sort of). There is a small, brown colored hose coming through the hull directly underneath the bearing housing that the drive shaft goes through. The hose is pouring water into the hull. What is this hose for and where does it go? Is it this water inlet? Still unsure where the hose should be hooked, because right now it's just sitting in the hull pouring water out. Thanks in advance for the help!

I think you are asking about the speedometer pitot hose.

From the factory there is a white plastic pitot fin located under the hull in the jet pump intake, just above the intake grate.

Inside the hull the pitot connects a small nipple to a long clear hose that runs up to the back of the MFD display. The pitot nipple is directly below the driveshaft inside the hull, hard to see without using small mirror.

Normally there is a small zip tie holding the tubing onto the nipple.
    Not present in this photo.

After 20 years, the "clear" line will look yellow and/or brown so I would agree that it is the speedometer pickup line. The water isn't likely coming out of the hose, but out of the fitting. The nipple likely broke off or the hose came off. The faster you go, the more water will come in.

Thanks K447, you're always so quick to help and have never let me down! The hose is leaking the water so it's definitely still attached to the speedo pitot nipple. I'll get it hooked to the MFD and hopefully no more leakage! Time to get this beast out for its first good run since purchasing. I'll of course get on all the preventive maintenance with the fuel/oil hoses ASAP.

Tip: Take the photos right after cleaning the hull

Every so often I will tilt the nose of the trailer up high and the. give the hull interior a good rinse and apply some general cleaner product with some scrubbing in places where it is needed. Then another water rise, air dry. Done.

So much nicer to troubleshoot and work inside a clean hull.

I also make an effort to eliminate seepage from oil hoses and the engine itself. Wipe up grease spots and drippings, and in general just not let it get grimy to begin with.

Got it thanks, I rinse all the time after I ride, but never used a cleaner.
I will now after seeing yours and I agree it would be a lot nicer to
troubleshoot and work inside the hull
