03 gp800r no gasket or sealer between casings?!
Replacing crank seals on a 03 gp800r and I was suprised to see when I split the casing there was no sealer or gasket used. The engine is so clean and low hours I figured it was the original engine. Now I'm thinking not. I bought it from a guy with a burned hole in the piston. Of course exhaust side. Thought power valve rated but it had the clips on the p/v. Now I'm thinking the casing were leaking from not being sealed properly. . Anyone ever split one of these 800'S and found no sealer? Is this how Yamaha sends them out new?

its a very thin layer of 1211 as the case halves are machined matched set. if there wasnt anything it would of blown up in the first hour of use.

Thats what I thought. Idkw it sure looks like nothing was used. The shop manual calls for gasket maker. Thats it.
Ok 1211 it is. Thanks for the help!
