Seadoo GTX Intake Filter Replacement - Let factory hang?
Just purchased a 2002 Seadoo GTX 4tec. I just got done making the OPAS blockup kit out of PVC tonight. I also just got done buying the R&D air intake filter after reading several positive posts about the simple upgrade.
My question now is what to do with the OEM air intake. The large box sits next to the fuel tank. Is it even worth attempting to remove it?
I had to replace the oil pump cover for $50 because I noticed it had a corner cracked and part of the oring was sticking out causing a little oil to leak.
I remember removing the intake tube from the throttle body and just folding it up under the hull out of the way to do the work. Should I just do that and throw on the cone filter and leave it or are you guys going farther to remove more?
Thanks in advance..

Totally up to you if you choose to remove it. I yanked all the OEM stuff out of my skis that I was not using for weight savings and space. You will need to relocate the voltage regulator and adjust the fuel tank straps, that is it.
IMO, remove it all and clean it up.

Ok thanks - I just didn't know if it was almost impossible to get that thing out from under the dash or not. My guess is it comes out in pieces or through the front access door.
I will take a look.
It's my first ski so I have to play with it in and out of the water....
