Yep NGK BR8ES-11 in stock or lightly modded skis. BR9ES-11 if you have compression over 150 with radical porting. Guys have indexed them and some have "J" or side gapped them as well. I've had spark reliability issues with "J" gapping more than once and did not notice any gains. The standard gap works best for me. When I tighten them I swap plugs around to try to get them to face the exhaust port as best as possible. Not true "indexing" but works for me and I doubt I'd see any gain by true indexing. JMHO Some guys like iridium plugs but I've never tried it. I'm too afraid the precious metal could glow like in a cat converter and cause detonation. Others claim they work great though.

Hey did you ever get that tach to work or get your new one? Have you done this comparison back to back? You'd have to use fresh plugs of both kinds for valid results as a 50 rpm gain is about is about 3.5hp or 2.5%. Seems pretty incredible. Even reeds only give you 7-10hp (which is a ton) depending on the rest of the engine combo. I'll try it though if you have the specific champion part number.

It's fairly well documented on here they do give some RPMs up top. Gotta dig deep in the depths of greenhulk back when people were actively modding the 1300.

I was using the TTO tach turned the sensitivity down. The Digatron tach was backordered I'll have it installed next week. It keeps a 30 minute log.

    Some advice Rick,

Any small improvements from different spark plug types would only be quantifiable on an engine stand in a controlled laboratory environment. The outdoor water world that we all test in is far from controlled and it is difficult at best to get accurate/repeable test results on a small scale. Too many variables, temp, humidity, current, wind, etc.

People look to this site for credible/proven advice and technical information so before you post what YOU believe to be factual just make sure the test data/results supports the findings and can hold up to scrutiny from expert review.

This is just my engineering point of view, regards, Ceril
