720 accelerator pump issues
Hey all, Having trouble with the accelerator pump on my 720 motor and after some help if possible.
I've stripped the pump and cleaned it over and over again and still no joy, When I re-assemble the unit it works when I blow & suck on the pipes with the check valve opening and closing fine with flow going one way. The trouble starts when I fill the carb with fuel the valve seems to be sticking open and its loosing its flow. ie) draws air back through the nozzle in the carb where its supposed to spray out.
Any idea what i'm missing or whats up here?

I've had trouble with those also. I usually use a piece of tubing dipped in fuel to work the pump to verify operation before re-assembling. Then try not to hit the throttle until fuel line is hooked back up so it keeps itself primed. I also replace the tiny tubing with tygon line and slip the checkvalve from the lower line back inside the new tygon.

Thanks for the reply, Had the pump sorted in the end. I took it to work and stuck in in the ultrasonic wash for an hour and blasted it all with an air line, drowned it with carb cleaner then blasted it again with an air line and it worked fine on rebuild
