    Athena or vi pec

I want to buy a ecm to increase power, I have run across some used athena"s but cant find them new, did they stop making that model and switch to the vi pec? is there anything wrong with the athenas? thank you,

I'd personally avoid the above two as they can be problematic from reading on this site.

VTECH or Motec M1 are the best two you can buy with the latter being the very best.

NO WAY vipec has some problem!!
if you are not skilled to use a vipec ecu then you can't use a motec either.
    Thanks

I had a Athena and it was shit on start up and idle, but Rob was on the phone with me and even loged onto my laptop and corrected issue's so they had great and fast service,,

    Okay well said Nils.
Good to know about the vipec problem.
It was probably in the V88 because i had a bit problem to find the intake temp (IAT) it always shown -40 before you start it but if you idle some minutes it come to the normal value??
Never had some problem with the MAP.
And never had same problem on the v44 on the car.

    Between the lines Nils.
Good work with the good support on the motec Nils i know you help many people on here if i didn't have going for the vipec on my car for many years ago i did go for motec on my skii but have very hard to chance something i started with.
    Thanks

Ditto on what others have said.

What ski, what are your goals, and what is your budget????

With that info people can point you in the right direction.

I have a 2012 rxtx ,I want low 70's, the athena seemed like a great product for the money, I want plug and play, I dont really want to have to retune and load custom maps, I was wanting to raise the rev limiter to aprox 8300,

Then I'd just go with a simple R&D tune (R2 or R3). Put an intake on it, remove the flame res.(DIY) or buy the $170 kit, and pitch the prop to run in that 8300-8350 RPM area. You should see a solid 73MPH to 75MPH on the S3 hull and be running a pretty safe set up.
