    why don't skis have gears?

OK so, most high performance skis top out around 70 to 80 mph around 8000 rpm. Why doesn't some manufacturer give us gears like a motorcycle so we can go 100 mph plus? What's the hold up? Obviously if you hit the water at 100 mph you'll be seriously injured or die but you'll get the same consequence on a bike. Am I right or am I right?

it would be nice if all you needed were gears to go faster
the truth is you are already in top gear, you don't need lower gears as there is no solid surface to give solid traction
it is engine power that stops you going faster not revs
you pitch the prop to try and get close to maximum revs ,and that will give maximum speed for your power
