    piston wash questions...

here's some pics of the tops of the pistons that i took the other day....i think i may be running it a little too rich.

I've got a question..note on the gaskets are the openings supposed to be that small for the water to go through or are they supposed to be larger?
i'm wondering because i did have a few times last summer where it overheated...

ouch! waaayyyy lean! check those carbs asap!

the holes are correct. it keeps water in the jug longer so more heat is transferred to the water.

some good reading and pictures on piston wash are in ph20's gallery, and in this thread http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/show...ht=piston+wash

run plug chops. Are you running a tripple out let fuel pump? Do you have a restrictor installed in the return line? Ill give you a base setting, set the low speed needles 1/2 a turn out an the high speed needles 1 turn out. Go out an do plug chops. Btw the holes are of normal size. As you can see the UP located on the gasket is facing up, an the little tab is too the right of the exaust port. Thats the way the gasket is supposed to go on. Your running lean an over heating. If you need help with plug chops ask the guys hear there very helpful!!!!

all the lines and pump are stock...i do have the tripple outlet fuel pump, i have to install it yet...I did do some plug chops...they were close to normal...the reason why i pulled the heads was because on my last ride(last year) at the end of the day it seemed like water got in, it ran really bad about 10 mins after that happened then it would run normal again...

Also looks like some deto action going on in a few of those shots. If it was water, the crowns would be white washed or at least have gooey oil & water mix in there. How's your compression?

also could be the fuel selector valve blocking and unblocking internally? bad fuel filter? bad fuel lines?

Upper right hand photo is bad news (front cylinder?), lots of deto. Get some fuel and oil to these things NOW!!!
Can you bring us up to date on the mods and jetting you have right now?
With that kind of deto you have to be running hoy and I would imagine your temp sensor is going off??

everything is stock..hasn't been started since last season...not sure on jets...
after looking at that pic doesn't it look like some water just sitting on top of the piston? I think it's fogging oil though...

The red light on the mfd would flash right before it would shut down...but the mfd display never said anything
