    Weisco Piston clearance..

    Hey boys,
I have a good friend of mine who is planning on running Wiesco pistons in a average modded ski pulling 8600 RPMs...
He recieved the pistons(which look very pretty by the way) and after we looked at the spec sheet we seen that they have a VERY VERY tight piston clearance(.0019)...NOW after dealing with my CPs and I now have a set of Rivas,I know that I want .0040 piston clearance on those,BUT are the Weiscos the same??

I was wondering if anybody here is/has ran the Weisco pistons and what clearance thay have ran with them..Im guessing at least .0035..Especially with the motor he has is gonna pull some RPM and around 15 psi of boost..

IF anybody out there has ran these pistons can you let me know what you have ran for clearance on these??

    Thanks
    Sno.

I used 100.5mm Wiseco pistons in my Turbo build. Engine guy recommended .0040 for that application. My personal opinion was that was too big. I think .0030-.0035 still would have been ok. Unfortunately and not a fault of piston or clearance, I cooked all 3 pistons from an uncontrollable boost issue and didn't get a chance to put many hours on them.

They are nice pistons. Good thing you asked. I personally do not know the specs, but do know someone that put them in their SHO and they lasted about 1 hour. Apparently they were installed with too tight of clearance and once everything warmed up and got to temp it scored the pistons. From my understanding they have to be setup loose. I just do not know the specs sorry.

    how do you "cook" pistons
I have had weisco pistons to 50psi and had rod failure but the pistons were fine
    also boost controller issue
    are your weisco's coated?
