    My first MSX 150 project

    Picked up a MSX150 today with 127 hours along with a trailer for $1k. As hard as it might be to believe, its not running correctly

    I will post more details as soon as I have something interesting to describe

    Welcome to the club... the "I bought an MSX 150 and it's not running right" club.

    So check out the basics. Check oil, oil level, intake for oil ingestion, coolant for oil slick in the jug, plugs, etc.

    Start it... with Reverse engaged... see if it'll idle. Any red flashing lights (beyond the intial 10 at startup)? Any indicators on the dash? How's it sound?

    Will it rev up to the 3400 limit (in reverse)... sorta hang there then come back down to idle?

    I'd also pull the jet pump, inspect, service, etc. Ensure the driveshaft isn't seized to the through-hull bearing carrier and not all galled up where the seals ride.

    First roadblock - put the battery on 2A automatic charger overnight, and now its completely dead (the machine won't even wake up now, even with the charger attached). Off to the store tonight to get a new one. Also have to build diagnostic cable interface. Stay tuned

    Looks like I shouldn't have been charging the battery in the craft anyways, rookie mistake #1. Any tricks to get the MSX 150 battery up and out? Or is it easier than it looks?

    Can you build a diagnostics cable for the msx150 computer? I thought it was a canbus style cable....
