    gp1300r weird issue

Hey guys was hoping someone may have some clue as to what happened to my ski.

    I have a 05 gp1300r that I purchased used recently.
The engine was just rebuilt and everything seemed good.
I rode it for a while yesterday and it was running rough at low rpms and wouldn't idle. I took the plugs out and noticed they were fouled so I figure that's what's going on with that.

This morning things got a bit weirder.
The ski turned on by itself, with no key and would not shut off when I pressed the stop button. I even tried putting the key in and pulling it. After about a minute or two I found a screwdriver and I pulled the battery.
There was some smoke coming out from near the engine which I traced to the ground cable had begun to melt.

Anyone have any clue what could cause this and what I need to do to fix it.
    Thanks in advance.

on the rough issue , do a compression test and see what's going on . it will be between 125/135 .
on the self start issue , im suspecting the start solenoid when bad. does it start if you put the battery cable back?
the cable melt cause the heat , make sure its tight .

Starter solenoid was the culprit, there was water in the electrical box. I dropped it off at a mechanic and he confirmed. But told me I need to buy a stepping sensor and a temperature sensor. I tried to look these parts up online but no dice I'm guessing something was lost in translation since he mostly speaks Spanish. Any idea what I should look for?

Have a bad flooding issue with my 03 gp1300r. Thinking it may be a solenoid on the throttle body considering the motor hull was full of water for a while before I bought it. If you or anyone else can help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
