    Question What intake grate to use..

    Hi, All

    I've just decide to start tinkering with my 2012 FZR and I'm currently installing a 2014 transom & Pump..Ive read posts of the R&D intakes grates breaking at 80+... I'm not there yet but maybe in the future...What are most people doing? leaving the stock 2014/15 intake grates installed? Taking chances on the R&D?

    Not really many of the R&D grates breaking. I think I've heard of 1. And it is by far the most widely used grate.

    If you want, you could get a SS grate. I think Riva makes it.

    the problem with the stock grate is the ski bucks so it is VERY dangerous - do not use an OEM grate without a wing

    the problem with ALL of these grates is the bolts pull out, the grate falls off and the ski bucks

    If using the older transom with only 2 mounbting bolts R&D promotes a fix where 2 additional bolts are added the mount horizontally into the intake grate that has been welded up
