    Msx110/150 boost control soleniod update

If you own a MSX110/150 you may have had issues with the boost control soleniod. The soleniod that came on it stock is known to have issues and there is a update you can get from weberpower.com Surging, overboost, low boost..... These are the symptoms of a bad solenoid.

Now the kit from weber is around 130 and has all he hoses mounting bracket and clamps and has a new Pierburg solenoid. It is plug and play.
    http://www.weberpower.com/electrical...epair-kit.html

if you just want the soleniod they can be had on Amazon for about 40-80bucks and you supply the clamps, mounting hardware....... Otherwise known as zip ties simply search "Pierburg boost control solenoid"

For those who don't have the money here is a little hint. It's the same solenoid that is in almost all volvo turbo cars. So your local pick and pull will be a 20 dollar fix with some zip ties and a couple smal clamps. Again any S40, S60, S70, S80...... Turbo Volvo will have this Solenoid.

There re is another option. The ACDelco boost control solenoid is compatable but requires a different plug. Total cost of both is under $40 on Amazon. But you must splice the new plug in and mount the new solenoid.

    Nice find sourcing those solenoids!

    For reference.

This is the original wastegate solenoid... the one prone to failing. It is mounted to the compressor housing (forward-facing in the ski)... circled in pic.

This is the updated wastegate solenoid... much better design. As seen, it is mounted on a bracket that attaches to the valve cover.

They both are boost sourced off the banjo bolt and hose seen on the turbo in the first pic.

    Cheers!

Don't forget the hose clamp on the wastegate actuator side for the new design

What's the Pierburg part number? From the photo on the upgrade kit, it looks like it is 7.22240.13.0 or 722240130? If so, ebay has them for about 40 bucks

When did the upgraded valve setup ship on new machines? Must have been a mid year update.

It was not on the production skis. It was an upgrade that came later and was offered by Weberpower

The part numbers are all different as best I can tell. I have one from 6 years ago and it's grey and has totally different numbers from the new one I got from weber recently that is black.

    .
Grovite's 110 had it on a factory (replacement) motor. He didn't think it was added aftermarket.

I thought I read somewhere they were a dealer installed update... to address a common issue with the original solenoids. So many skis that came in for dealer servicing would have had them changed out. Not sure if it was warranty covered or owner expense.

    Cheers!
