02 Virage TXi motor into A 03 MSX 140 Will it work?

Hello. I have an opportunity to buy an 03 MSX 140. It is reported to have low compression in 1 cylinder. The compressions stated are: 125 125 80. He didn't specify which cylinder was low. I have purchased an 02 Vriage 1200 running motor (my 02 has a bad motor). I was wondering if the motor I picked up, would work in the 03 MSX, or would I have to make modifications. Thanks for the input.

Just for the sake of discussion, the only ski I have owned is my 02 Virage TXi. Which is a better ski? Performance, ride etc. The Virage TXi or the MSX? Thanks again!

Also, what could be the issue with the low compression on the 1 cylinder? Bad head gasket, rings? Would it be better to fix this, or do the engine swap if it will fit?

    Where are you located?

Issue could be a bad cylinder also. The MSX has plated cylinders that could fail. Cost for a used cylinder is around $400.

I have both, 2002 Virage TXi and 2004 MSX 140. Lots of differences. MSX 140 has a smoother ride in rough water, different feel overall.

If it was me I would probably look to have the failed cylinder replated. The process will result in an OEM diameter cylinder that will fit an OEM size piston, not oversized. I have had all three of my MSX 140 cylinders replated and no further issues. Installed all new pistons at the same time. I used high quality aftermarket pistons.

Certainly there are a number of common issues that need to be attended to on the Ficht engines. Fuel pressure regulator is high on the list. If you have not yet looked, click on my signature links for lots more info.

Cylinder replate is around 200 to 250 bucks. New OEM cylinder is around 450. SPI pistons can be had for around 60 bucks.

Ok, here is the deal I'm working. Any input on good deal/bad deal would be greatly appreciated. Here is the details of my deal:

Me: Single place Caravan Galvanized trailer. $1600.00 - Going to offer $1400

Him: Two Place Trailer, Shore Lander. 2003 Polaris MSX 140, decent shape, with the above mentioned issue.

Good deal, bad deal, fair deal. Please let me know what you think. Thanks,

    Bill

Another thing, is re-plating the cylinder something the local machine shop should be able to do? Thanks.

I'm giving him $1600 plus my single place trailer, for his two place trailer, and the MSX 140 ski, with the low compression issue.
