"Must Do" - Mods on New STX-15F?

    Hey Guys,

Just got my 2015 STX-15F last night. Right now it is sitting in the garage starring me down every time I go to my car. Since it is new and untouched, now is the opportunity to do a little tweaking before I shove off for the first time. So what should I do? Its going to spend most of its time on a lake, likely on a dry dock, so chances of me being able to upgrade parts over the summer may be limited

Any STX owners care to reflect on cheap, non-warranty voiding bolt on modifications that could be easily done at that point, or any pre ride prep that is essential?

    Thanks!

Ride plate, intake grate and Sponsons will greatly improve handling

I kind of love mine as-is. Maybe a coat of wax and a pair of earplugs.

If you can find a ride plate its the best bolt on for this ski there is, almost 3mph top speed increase & better handling & you have done nothing to void the warranty, the only other mod that is very good is an aftermarket air filter, but that may be a warranty issue. Unless you always ride in very rough water, skip the intake grate, it will scrub off a lot of speed, I got one cheap over the winter & tried it this spring, lost 3mph, it did turn sharper & stay a bit more connected to the water, but it was too much of a trade off for me.

Arguably being one of the best skis ever made, however it's lost most aftermarket support. I didn't like how my 12F handled after a rideplate/Grate combo. That was just me, you may have a different opinion but I'd just enjoy it as is and leave it be. I never liked the intake mods they had, always seemed like it would be bad for water ingestion, and the waterbox mods just made more noise. Good luck either way, awesome looking ski with the new color scheme..

This is what I did to my STX when I got it:

For me the Shredmaster ride plate didn't work out. I need to figure out why. The R+D engine air intake is a good improvement. I put in a scoop grate because the stock grate howled like mad at speed. I only bought the boat to get rid of a problematic Yamaha that I had. I didn't expect too much because I am hooked on the power of a supercharged motor but I'm very happy with the performance of the boat.

Nice looking 15F. Goodluck finding a rideplate most places are sold out and I have had terrible luck finding one on ebay. You can send to GroupK they can mill the plate it is suppose to add 1-3mph. That, a intake and impeller and fill the rideplate holes should get you a solid 65 mph ski and super dependable.
